About the Principal – Drew Marshall

Andrew [Drew] Marshall is the founder and Principal of Primed Consulting, LLC. Drew’s primary focus is on helping clients’ leadership, innovation, design, product development, and program management teams frame and respond to challenges so they can deliver value to their customers as quickly as possible. He works on installing innovation performance systems as an integrated part of his clients’ strategy implementation efforts, helping transform their organization cultures to be more innovation capable.

Drew has consulting and management experience in strategy formulation, process consulting, project management, rational thinking practices, and product development methodologies; and he also possesses broad industry experience in software, retail, service, manufacturing, public sector and education. Other areas of expertise include organizational process analysis and change leadership, organizational communication systems design, operations improvement efforts, and mentoring and coaching services within clients.

With a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Graduate Diploma of Education from the University of Western Sydney in Sydney Australia, and a Master of Arts in Whole Systems Design from Antioch University in Seattle, Washington, Drew is also a certified Project Management Professional. He was the past Chair of the PMI Consulting SIG and has presented widely on project management, human resources management, and innovation issues. He is a master facilitator and associate consultant with ExperiencePoint and a Human Synergistics certified consultant deploying the Organization Culture Inventory and Organization Effectiveness Inventory assessments.

With a passion for community service Drew currently serves on the Board of Trustees for VolunteerConnect, is the Vice Chair of Fair Districts PA, and is a member of NationSwell.

Working together toward a common vision is at the heart of organization success. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives is the energy that allows common people to attain uncommon results.

Effective communication is at the heart of meaning making in organizations.
Communication is the substance of the connection between people in organizations. To effectively communicate, we must realize that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our communication with others.

Understanding how we experience the world is essential to change it.
Recognizing that personal reality is rarely a shared experience requires self-awareness. Acknowledging the different influences on the way we sense and experience the world is a key element in beginning to understand the scope of difference in the way others perceive the world around them.

Developing a holistic understanding is essential to accomplish systemic change.
Recognition of the elements contained within and contributing to a whole system, and understanding the way in which they interact, leads to a better comprehension of the whole. Without such an understanding any attempt to change the system will carry with it a higher risk of failure.

Small changes may have profound effects.
The feedback loops that reside in organization systems are in constant flux. External changes, chance events or failures in the stability of feedback loops can cause profound changes. Knowing where the points of leverage are, and which fulcrums to employ, is critical for effective organization change. “Primum non nocere” – First do no harm.

Growth and renewal are essential.
In order to fund opportunities for making meaning, growth and renewal are key ingredients to an organizations sustainability. The creative destruction inherent in innovation is largely responsible for the dynamism of organizations and their long-term economic growth.

Meaningful work means everything.
Meaningful work is autonomous. It is complex; it engages one’s mind. It is work where there is a relationship between effort and reward — for everything you put in, you receive something in return. In it there’s joy.
